No, me getting kicked in the head isn’t history. It happens quite a lot, unfortunately. It is one of the highlights of the trip I’m on, so far. (Here’s more pictures from the trip, so far.) We had a fun ending to the the 2007 regular season. The Patriots went 16-0. Lots of records were broken. And it turns out the Bengals kept the Browns out of the playoffs. Another nice season for the National Football League. I’m definitely looking forward to the post-season possibilities.
So what will the Bengals do now? Marvin Lewis says it’s time to blow the whole thing up. Doubtful. But there are changes that need to be made and hopefully the rights ones happen. This season wasn’t as fun as it should have been.
What should/will your team do in the coming months? I will listen to your ideas, even if your favorite franchise won’t.
I’m visiting my pal Rinnert this weekend and he’s got a new addition: this little guy. Er, girl. One problem, the dog needs a name. She’s six weeks old and is still being referred to as “puppy.” The options thrown around the Rinnert household are Nellie and Tonks. Cooper is a favorite of mine. Abby is gaining steam. My suggestions have been soundly shot down so I’m coming to you for help.
What should they call this dog?
Obviously, I can bribe you with a Sock Point for your suggestion. But I’ve been told the final decision is the Rinnerts and they are sick and tired of my dumb ideas.
You’ve probably seen this before and the synchronized-holiday-lights-to-music trend is jumping the shark. But it’s still damn cool. Points to Eric.
You can send me a YouTube link and if I like it (or need it) enough to put it up here, Sock Point to you.
Feel free to send your suggestions to my gmail account. It’s woodmania. I’d type it out but I don’t need more junk mail. Just your YouTube suggestions.
So the regular Friday Night Fights segment has taken a break for the holidays. I guess I should have paid attention to that. Looks like I was a little over-eager last week. In my defense, I was on the road so I didn’t exactly have time to follow directions. Also, I didn’t dress up like this guy so points to me.
“You won’t have time for sleeping soldier, not with all the bed-making you’ll be doing.”
We could see some history if we’re actually in front of a TV Saturday night. It’s also a time to say goodbye some NFL vets who aren’t coming back. For some, it’s the last time we’ll see them in uniform. Or at least the uniform we’re used to. Considering the low number of games that actually affect the playoff picture, you’re gonna have to search to find some good reasons to watch some of these contests.

Tonight begins the death knell of Futurama on Cartoon Network as the sci-fi comedy is having their swan song on Adult Swim. After five years, Bender and his buddies will no longer be hanging out on the Cartoon Network. But all is not lost, Futurama’s coming to Comedy Central. It’ll take some adjustment but hopefully it will thrive on the home of South Part the way it did on the home of Space Ghost. Although, there’s some skepticism that Comedy Central won’t drop the ball, I pretty much just only care that it’s still on my TV on a regular basis.
Still, to mark the change, let me know your favorite Futurama moment and a Sock Point will be cryogenically frozen and thawed out 1,000 years in the future.
He’s got a Santa hat on. That counts as holiday-themed, right? Once again I am on the road so I wanted to wish everyone safe travels and happy holidayness.
Let me know what you’re doing for the holiday season and the Christmas Miracle that is a Sock Point will be in your stocking.
Pretty outstanding work here by the Zman’s family. He turned a crappy Tim Couch jersey into a statement of the quarterback’s career, as well as yesterday’s Cincinnati-Cleveland game. Well, at least from the perspective of Browns fans. For us Bengals fans, we had fun watching Cleveland choke under the playoff pressure in Paul Brown Stadium. I was on the road so I missed much of it but a win’s a win.
How did your team do in Week 16? Here’s the open NFL thread to talk about it and get a Sock Point. Z already gets one because of this wicked jersey customization but there’s more for you.
I’m not gonna lie and say the Birmingham bowl trip went flawlessly, but mission accomplished. The Cincinnati Bearcats sealed the seaason with their tenth win. It’s only the second time in school history so it’s something we fans are kinda stoked about.
I’d love to sit here and talk some more but I’m on the road again today. If you realy want more from Birmingham, you can see my pictures here. If you caught any of the game, comment on what you saw. Or let me know what you did on a Saturday afternoon instead of watching this prestigious and historic bowl game.
Then you’ll love the over-dramatic line readings on Universal Studios Twister attraction. Maderer knows I love this bit where Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt talk it up before the wind starts up so he sent this along when he found it on YouTube. Point to him.
