I Guess The Patriots Should Have Copyrighted 18-1
February 4th, 2008 by Woody!
Here’s Lisa filling out the all-important squares beforehand. Fortunately, I was able to get my money back and then some. Amazing what having a little jack on the game can do for your interest level. And that ending certainly had my full attention. I will admit that it felt a little stagnant when the teams were stuck on 7-3 for pretty much most of the games. But three fourth quarter lead changes and the fact that the game was never more than one score apart was reason alone to keep your eye on the screen all day.
I mentioned yesterday that no matter how great the game would be, I’d be disappointed with less than seeing the finale of a perfect season. Right now I’m overlooking that because of the fantastic finish but, as time goes on and we never get close to another undefeated team, I will hold it against Tom Brady and crew that they could not provide me history. Looks like the Patriots got ahead of themselves on this 19-0 copyright application. Or maybe God just really hates Junior Seau and his hat selection. Someone’s ready to make money out of 18-1. And they added an asterik, too!
So, how about those Super Bowl ads? Some amusing fare but I doubt there were any Hall of Famers. We had one commercial that was literally a commercial for you to go online to see a commercial. And one company apparently had a hard time choosing between a hot spokesmodel and dancing CGI animals, so they just used both for no logical reason. And I’m so glad that one spot informed me NOT to hook jumper cables to my nipples. I did enjoy that Fox football robot get it’s ass kicked by a Terminator.
What did you think of the game? The commercials? The legacy of Super Bowl XLII?

I watched bits and pieces. The fourth quarter was good. Talk about the Pats being big babies. “We’re going to lose, so everyone get off the field so we can have a group cry. *SNIFF* What? The game isn’t over? I don’t care! *SNIFF* I want my mommy!” I am so glad that those cheating babies lost.

i thought the game was great. because of what could have been (19-0) it will go down as one of the greatest super bowls ever and tyrees catch you will see every year in highlights from now on. it was as good as the rams titans game a few years ago. as for the comercials i thought they were subpar. i would have thought we would have got atleast a teaser trailer for indiana jones, batman, or hellboy. my favorite comercial was for the nfl when the guy toast at his wedding the bears going back and winning the super bowl.

I really enjoyed the game… Even though I was hoping for history too. Brady and the Pats just weren’t able to step up and make the big plays. The Giants did and deserve the title Super Bowl Champions. Next year, my LIONS. No doubt.

glad the g-men and eli were winners. congrats to my fantasy qb. now if we could just get chris berman to quit yelling.
commercials: the best was charlie brown balloon and the coca-cola. a shot of a girl dressed as lucy: genius!

I was very happy with the game! I’m so happy that the Giants won! I do not like the Patriots and I’m happy that Tom Brady left with his head down!
As for the commercials I liked a few of them. They just do not seem to be as big of a deal as they use to be. I liked the Coke commercial with the floats up until the Charlie Brown part because I felt like it would have been better if a Lucy float came and took the Coke away. I really liked the NFL commercial with the Texans players…he played obeo before being in football. That is great!

Great game, I enjoyed it even though I wanted the Pats to win. My reasons were two-fold; A) the giants are from NYC and I HATE all NYC teams B) I can’t stand the 72 Dolphins and was looking forward to watching them shuffle back to the retirement home broken hearted.
Commercials weren’t very good. The only two that really stood out were the cavemen with the wheel and the Will Ferrel Bud Light ad where he was in character for the new ABA movie he did. Both were Bud Light ads, apparantly they know how to do a good SB ad, too bad they can’t make a decent beer.

Just a small correction for you - it was a trademark application, not a copyright application. Those are two very different things.
Don’t feel badly, ESPN reported that it was a “patent” application. That’s even more wrong, and they have lawyers on staff that should have corrected them.
