No Country For Old Nazis

There’s something that puzzles me about removing one of the greatest evil institutions from one of the greatest stories of my lifetime. There are no Nazis in the Indiana Jones Lego game. Indy without Nazis? The idea sounds absurd! But Lego’s not the first. There’s also no Nazis at the Indiana Jones attraction at MGM Studios. The swastika is removed in favor of some generic symbol. Look at it on that Flying Wing there. Just some dumb cross.
I find it weird that everyone is so sensitive about Hitler that shit hits the fan whenever he’s mentioned considering he’s the perfect historical figure for everyone to hate on. We’re not glorifying the Third Reich, we’re reveling in their eventual downfall.
I wonder if that went into the decision-making process to keep Nazis out of Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. Or maybe that would have meant less screen time for monkeys and CGI groundhogs.

No Nazis in the Indy game? That is like if they would have no Imperial Stormtroopers in the Star Wars Legos games!

One factor that may play into this are the German laws against the display of Nazi symbols etc., which have in the past e.g. prevented some US comics with big swastika flags on the cover from being imported in Germany. Lego is, IIRC, a Danish company, so they would presumably keep that in mind.

Good point, Menshevik. I’m glad to hear there might be a legitimate reason besides the pansification of America. Like Eric said, Nazis are important to Indy lore. I don’t think it should be tossed aside without a good cause.

i agree with eric no nazis is like having no confederate soldiers in a civil war game. just because they did shitty things does not mean we right them out of the history books. history channel has made its living on nazi/hitler shows.
