Although, the biggest mystery tonight will probably be addressed in tonight’s hour-long season finale of The Office. Will Jim propose to Pam? Will Pam move away? Will Jim get fired? And what does the title mean: Goodbye, Toby.

“I would never say this to her face, but she is a wonderful person and a gifted artist.”

So what brings me to that bold declaration in the title? Seinfeld went off the air ten years ago today. Sure, it’s still on TV thanks to syndication and DVDs but the final new episode debuted ten years ago tonight. Does it seem like a decade ago when that happened? What else happened in that golden year? Let’s look back:

• President Bill Clinton was embroiled in sexual scandals with Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky.
• The Denver Broncos become the first AFC team in 14 years to win the Super Bowl, as they defeat the Green Bay Packers, 31-24.
• Titanic won 11 Oscars.
• George Michael is arrested in a restroom at Will Rogers Memorial Park for committing a lewd act in front of a police officer.
• Apple Computer unveils the iMac.
• Actor Charlton Heston becomes president of the National Rifle Association.
• The Chicago Bulls win their 6th NBA title in 8 years when they beat the Utah Jazz, 87-86 in Game Six. This is also Michael Jordan’s last game as a Bull, clinching the game in the final seconds on a fadeaway jumper.
• Google is started. It becomes the biggest search engine and the second most commonly visited web site in history, following Yahoo!
• St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Mark McGwire breaks baseball’s single-season home-run record, formerly held by Roger Maris.
• The U.S. Congress passes the “Iraq Liberation Act”, which states that the United States wants to remove Saddam Hussein from power and replace the government with a democratic institution.
• American Airlines becomes the first airline to offer electronic ticketing in all 44 countries it serves.
• Jesse Ventura, former professional wrestler, is elected Governor of Minnesota.
• FoxTrax ended.

Hmmm… that list was supposed to reflect that 1998 doesn’t seem that long ago but some those things make it seem lie it truly was a decade ago. Which is it for you: last week or last century? What else stands out for you about 1998? A pre-Y2K Sock Point will be your reward.

Do you see it there on the table behind him, under his armpit? Okay, not really. But it might be. Or a fascimile. But there seems to be enough evidence to suggest it is related somehow to Captain America. Apparently, Iron Man won’t be the only movie with a nod to Cap. It looks like Marvel is taking full advantage of keeping their characters in-house for movies, I’m looking forward to seeing much more of the Star-Spangled Avenger, as long as we don’t see Captain America as Matthew McConaughy like the rumor is.

Speaking of things that suck, the Iron Man video game is no good. It looks good and there might be something there but the repetitive roadblocks get old and kill a potentially cool game. Don’t get it. Don’t even rent it. Just go see the movie again.

Earlier this year, I had some great news come my way: Little Caesars returned to Cincinnati. And I was ecstatic. Well, sort of. You may remember I griped about Little Caesars abandoning Cincinnati before. So you can imagine how thrilled I was when a Little Caesars popped up on the outskirts of town. But it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for.

It looks like the company has reorganized, created a new model, and got busy creating new franchises. Maybe you’ve seen them around your town or while you’re travelling. The new focus seems to be Hot N Ready, having pizzas ready to be picked up at any moment in-store or even at a drive-thru. Sounds like a good niche to separate yourself from the competition and not that far away from what they could do a few years ago.

And yet, it is different. Those who know me are keenly aware that I would often eat Crazy Bread by the bagfulls. Every time I was anywhere close to a Little Caesars I would go out of my way to get some, regardless of how bad the section of town was that I had to go into. But a clean version opened up in a decent section of town and I’ve only gone three times since the beginning of the year.

Apparently, when they converted to the new model, they also changed their recipe. These new places and their Hot N Ready breadsticks don’t quite taste like Crazy Bread. They’re okay… well, better than okay. But not a great as they used to be. I guess the new business model calls for new ingredients or baking directions or something.

So, what does that mean for me, the biggest Crazy Bread fan on Earth? If I’m in the neighborhood, I stop by. (Which I haven’t been too much since it’s around the block from where I used to work and opened the last day I was there.) But I’m not driving across town for them like I would if it were an O.G. (Which is probably a good thing or I’d have gained 10 pounds in a month in that case.) I still swing by a 1.0 version of Little Caesars when I’m driving through Dayton even though it’s in a less-than-desirable part of town.

Am I crazy? Sure am. Crazy for Crazy Bread.

I’m sure you remember the classic Sock Drawer post Jack is a Shitty Leader post. And most of you seem to agree with me and I can’t imagine there’s been evidence since then to suggest otherwise. (Unfortunately for the LOSTies, everyone else who has been in a position of leadership has shown equal ineffectiveness being top dog on the island. Well, except for Ben.)

After last week’s episode, I’m sure most of you agree Jack proved he is also a shitty husband. He’s picked up old paranoid, drunken habits and he didn’t even get to the wedding this time. It takes two to make a marriage work and obviously the first Mrs. Shephard was no saint. But after seeing him go down almost the exact same path with another potential wife makes it pretty clear Jack is the damaged goods and just can’t seem to get out of the way of his own happiness.

Speaking of ABC’s hit show (despite the “low ratings“) Drewes sent me this website that is based on a Time Loop Theory. I haven’t gone through it completely but I think I’ve gleaned the overall point. There’s plenty there to make you think but, from what I’ve heard from the showrunners, I am pretty sure that we will not see this concept used in the show. In other words, no Back To The Future rules of time travel will be applied here.

I’m just going to re-examine some of the recent little things for clues before tonight’s show and rue we only have a few hours of this season left.
